I create one-off commissioned paintings that bring those things together into an original piece of work, developed through drawing, collage, texture and paint.

You don’t need a finished idea before getting in touch.
It might be a particular landscape, a building, a memory, a person, or somewhere that means something to you or your family.
We’ll talk through what you have in mind, look at any photographs or references you already have, and work out what the painting could become.
If you’re unsure about size, composition or even where to begin, that’s completely fine. Part of the process is finding the right starting point together.
The details are
what make it yours.
A commission can hold much more than the image itself.
Photographs, handwritten notes, maps, invitations, song lyrics and other meaningful fragments can all become part of the finished piece.
Sometimes those details are immediately visible. Sometimes they sit more quietly within the layers of the painting, adding meaning that may only be known to the person it was made for.
It is this combination of place, memory and personal detail that makes each commissioned painting completely individual.
From first conversation
to finished painting.
Every commission is different, but the process is simple. We work through it together from the first idea to the finished piece.
Conversation
We start by talking through the idea, the place and why it matters to you. You can send photographs, memories, references or simply tell me the story behind the painting.
Making
I begin building the painting through drawing, collage, texture, stitching and layers of paint. The work develops gradually rather than following a fixed formula.
Finishing
Once the painting is complete, I take care of the finishing and framing in-house. The finished piece is then ready to collect or can be carefully packed for delivery.
Made for
your space.
Every commission is individually priced according to the size and complexity of the painting.
If you already know roughly what size you're looking for, that's a useful place to start. If you don't, I can help you choose a scale that works for both the subject and the space where the painting will eventually hang.
Once we've discussed the idea, I'll confirm the size, price and expected timescale before any work begins.
We'll agree a timescale before I begin, particularly if the painting is for a birthday, anniversary or other special date.
Where appropriate, I can take care of framing too, so the finished artwork is ready to hang when it reaches you.
