Rob commission prize helps to raise over £1400 at the Platinum Charity Ball at the Lowry Hotel, Manchester
Hosted by Bill Turnbull, The Platinum Ball saw celebrities from the world of football and entertainment come out in full force to help raise vital funds for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
Over 200 guests gathered including including Phil and Julie Neville, and Everton players Sylvain Distin, Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines helped to raise a total of over £50,000 on the night. Entertainment included music from Ruth Brown from BBC's - 'The Voice'.
Amongst the silent auction prizes was the chance to win a commissioned painting by Rob WIlson.
The evening was dreamt up by 'Team David' a dedicated group set up by the parents of 2 year old David who in July 2011 was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), an incurable and often fatal genetic disease.
SMA is the leading genetic killer of infants and toddlers and affects one in every 6,000 births.
Although there is currently no known cure for the disease, clinical trials are in progress to change this. The trials hope to give life-altering results for many children and their families but can only happen with continued charitable support.
